ELECTION OF DEPUTY MAYOR

Minutes:

 

Councillor Hook proposed and Councillor Burgess seconded the Motion that Councillor Mrs Jones be elected Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Gosport for the Municipal Year ending May 2018/2019.

 

 

COUNCIL RESOLVED: That Councillor Mrs Jones be elected Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Gosport for the Municipal Year 2018/2019.

 

The Deputy Mayor made the Statutory Declaration of Acceptance of Office and confirmed that her husband Mr Jones will be her Consort for the Municipal Year 2018/2019.  She returned thanks for her election.

RETURNING OFFICER'S REPORT ON BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS 3 MAY 2018

Minutes:

1.         I have to report that, whereas the number of Candidates validly nominated in the election of Councillors for each of the Alverstoke, Anglesey, Bridgemary North, Bridgemary South, Brockhurst, Christchurch, Elson, Forton, Grange, Hardway, Lee East, Lee West, Leesland, Peel Common, Privett, Rowner and Holbrook and Town Wards of the Borough exceeded the number of Councillors to be elected for the respective Wards, a poll was taken on the 3rd day of May 2018, and the votes cast for the respective Candidates at each such election were as follows:-

13.

COMPOSITION AND REVIEW OF COUNCIL BOARDS AND COMMITTEE AND DETERMINATION OF ALLOCATION OF SEATS

Minutes:

The borough solicitor and deputy chief executive had submitted a report to advise the council of the composition and balance of the seats on the council and the position with regard to political groups and to undertake a review in accordance with the “proportionality rules” of the balance of seats on the boards and committees of the council.

 

RECOMMENDED: THAT THE COUNCIL APPROVE:

 

1.       The allocation of seats on the boards and committee as set out in   paragraph 3.2

 

14.

APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN OF POLICY AND ORGANISATION BOARD

Minutes:

COUNCIL RESOLVED: That Councillor Hook be appointed Chairman of the Policy and Organisation Board for the 2018/2019 Municipal Year.

 

15.

APPOINTMENT OF BOARDS, NOMINATED DEPUTIES FOR THE REGULATORY BOARDAND STANDARDS AND GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE AND PANELS AND OUTSIDE BODIES

Minutes:

Members considered a provisional list (a copy of which is attached hereto as Appendix “C1”) of appointments to vacancies listed above for the Municipal Year 2018/19.

 

COUNCIL RESOLVED: That the provisional list of appointments to vacancies listed above for the Municipal Year 2018/19 as amended be approved and adopted.

ADJOURNMENT

Minutes:

The Mayor adjourned the Council meeting at 5.24pm so that new Board and Committee members could elect their respective Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen.  The meeting re-convened at 5:41pm.

 

17.

APPOINTMENT OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE STANDARDS AND GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE

Minutes:

COUNCIL RESOLVED: That Councillor Raffaelli be Chairman of the Standards and Governance Committee for the 2018/2019 Municipal Year

18.

APPOINTMENT OF A DATA PROTECTION OFFICER

Minutes:

Members considered a report of the Borough Solicitor and Deputy Chief Executive recommending the appointment of David Eland as the Council’s Data Protection Officer.

 

COUNCIL RESOLVED: Council agree to appoint the David Eland pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), as the Council’s Data Protection Officer.
