No to the new Gosport logo

We the undersigned petition the council to Do not drop the "God's port, our haven" line from the new logo.

"God's Port, Our Haven" is an important statement to Gosport.

https://www.gosportheritage.co.uk/history-of-gosport/

"Henry de Bois, Bishop of Winchester, on being rescued from a storm in the Solent asked what place had provided his haven. When told that it was Gosport (then a small fishing village) he remarked that it should from then on be known as God’s Port."

Gosport is marginalised and isolated (no train station) and written off by outsiders. We who live here know that it is a glorious place to live, made up of a strong, resilient and proud community that is proud of it's heritage. "God's port, our haven" has shaped our identity and it speaks a different story over our town. We need to keep the strap line to maintain our proud history and community identity.
